What Customers Say About DEWALT DC616KN 18-Volt 16-Gauge Straight Finish Nailer:

It outperformed my Porter Cable 16 gauge Air powered nailer by far in even nailing into Ipe hardwood.(the hardest wood I've ever nailed).although don't try 2 and a half inchers on that wood. I got a great deal on this tool.so it might affect my judgement. I'd definitly look for a combination package for this tool (my came with a 18 volt saw and battery and charger). It seems heavy at first.but is balanced well. and so far unbreakable.I tried nailing a 2 and half inch nail into solid Ipe (about 10 times harder than Oak).and the nail gun only gave it's electronic jam light flicker and the nail only went in half way.but it didn't hurt the pin nor damage anything.(like nailing into concrete) and after just refiring the gun by removing and replacing the battery It went to town fine using 1 and a quarter nails on such hardwood. First time I used it I said 'ah oh, it's not working.' It jammed a couple of times, and worked intermittently.
The adjustable setting is magnificent. But after using it for two or three monthes it feels like an ever better deal. The Porter Cable didn't come close. Them Vavooooommm, it's been working fine ever since. Great for exterior and interior trim and No hose. I'd say it's even a bit overpowered for softwoods.usually lowest setting works best.
(If using Ipe.I recommend using a micro pinner like the Grex sold here and polyurethane glue and or predrilling and stainless small head screws).
